    Description
    Summary:The Senior Accountant is responsible for maximizing return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Requirements:
    • Assist in financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing accounting policies and procedures.
    • Prepare reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
    • Provide management, bank, and sureties with timely reviews of organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities.
    • Direct preparation of budgets, review budget proposals, and prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification.
    • Supervise and set procedures for accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, purchasing and inventory controls, monitor and review entries and support periodically.
    • Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
    • Manage account reconciliations, including bank, GL, and other key accounts, reconciling balance sheet and month end revenues and expenses.
    • Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting internal audits and providing information to external auditors.
    • Generate and analyze weekly Cash Flow reporting.
    • Review GL weekly for discrepancies and make corrections when necessary. Review all transactions from AP and AR postings to GL.
    • Manage the configuration and maintenance of the accounting system.
    • Make recommendations for improving accounting processes and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
    • Manage overall month-end and year-end closing activities.
    • Review payroll submissions and reconcile payroll systems to check disbursements.
    • Manage all banking matters, including bank reconciliations, wire transfers, download cleared checks, stop payments, borrowing base reporting and all daily/monthly banking matters.
    • Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies; manage the compilation of and submission of federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.
    • Establish relations with banks and other financial institutions.
    • Manage fixed asset accounting, tracking and depreciation.
    • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; researching tax requirements and compliance; advising management on needed actions and filing required paperwork.
    • Advise management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
    • Monitor and perform safety and insurance requirements in order to make sure the company is in compliance with our own insurance providers.
    • May perform the responsibilities of accounting 1 and 2 and other duties as required.
    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:Core Requirements:

    Education And/or Experience:
    • Bachelor's or master's Degree; or five (5) to ten (10) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Expert knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
    • Preferred Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA); Certified Mgmt. Accountant (CMA)
    Computer Requirements:
    • Finance software – QuickBooks.
    • Spreadsheet software – MS Excel.
    • Word Processing software – MS Word.
    • Email & Calendar software – MS Outlook.
    • Internet software – Windows/Internet Explorer.
    Language & Mathematical Skills:
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, customers, and vendors.
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
