We are seeking a motivated and results-oriented Firmware Engineer to join our team, specializing in the design and development of embedded firmware for test and measurement instruments.
The ideal candidate will be capable of executing projects and delivering results while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to support product design and development.
Proficiency in C is essential, along with experience in Linux environments and bare-metal programming.Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and implement firmware for test and measurement instruments.
Develop C code for microcontroller and microprocessor programs for both bare-metal and embedded Linux systems.
Utilize various protocols to communicate with onboard peripherals (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, RS-232, USB).
Develop JavaScript for front end control interface application
Implement and support VHDL code for FPGA designs.
Implement and support Python programs for creating test software and various other applications such as simulation tools and automation algorithms.
Conduct thorough integration, testing and debugging of new firmware with hardware that includes microcontrollers and FPGAs to ensure functionality and reliabilityDocument, maintain and update code for new products, calibration, feature enhancements and implement bug fixes in existing firmware.
Support and execute responsibilities throughout various product lifecycle phases such as development, implementation, integration, validation and verification.
Collaborate with hardware engineers to define and optimize circuit designs and specifications.
Document firmware design processes, test procedures, and specifications for product designs.
Stay informed about industry advancements in test and measurement technology and embedded systems.
Qualifications:
Degree qualifications in a field such as Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent experience in a related discipline.
Proficiency in C, with desirable experience and familiarity in Python, C++, VHDL (or Verilog, or Rust) relevant to firmware and hardware engineering.
Experience with bare-metal programming and Linux or Unix based embedded systems.Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) is a plus.
Knowledge of circuit board design, including microcontrollers (e.g., ARM, PIC, AVR) and FPGAs.
with development tools such as IDEs, debuggers, and version control systems (e.g., Git, Subversion).
Familiar with communication protocols relevant to test instruments (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, RS-232, USB).
Desirable familiarity with Digital Signal Processing principles and simulations in MATLAB or NumPy.
Desirable familiarity with electronic test and measurement instruments.
Effective problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to execute and deliver, and a proactive attitude.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
This offer is for full-time, non-remote, salaried employment. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Compensation package includes health and dental benefits, vacation, performance-based bonus opportunities, and retirement plan.

Base Starting Salary Range:
$80k-$110k/year
