- Works with the Imaging Manager to establish performance standards for both echo and ultrasound employees including the areas of technical skills, professional behavior, safety, communication and management.
- Facilitates communication between departments.
- Acts as a patient advocate in all aspects of echo and ultrasound.
- Maintains all necessary records and files, in conjunction with staff.
- Coordinates the work of various staff including patient, staff and physician relations.

Summary:
The Lead Sonographer assumes the responsibility of overseeing the day to day operations of the Ultrasound and Echocardiography Departments. This position includes patient care, tech orientation, education and training, clerical responsibilities and staff oversite.
The Lead coordinates and is responsible for all continuous quality improvement functions and State of Maine rules and regulations as required by the operating license.
