    Backend Engineer

    Location: Greater New York; Hybrid

    Job Type: Full-Time

    Salary: 135,000-150,000 + eligible for discretionary bonus and equity

    About the Company

    Sandbox Wealth is a modern private banking platform for modern clients. We are building tools and solutions that make it easier for private investors to access liquidity, ultimately driving transparency into opaque markets from fine art to commercial real estate.

    We are currently in search of an experienced Backend Software Engineer who is passionate about building a world-class application that will modernize private banking for clients of independent wealth managers and family offices. In partnership with our design team, you will be responsible for creating a seamless experience for our users by developing both the back-end components of our private banking platform across our web and mobile applications. Our tech stack consists of Django/Python on the backend.

    About the Position

    This position will report to the co-founder/CTO of Sandbox Wealth. We expect the ideal candidate to have material educational or professional experience building robust web and mobile applications with clean, maintainable, well-tested code.

    Responsibilities

    • Design, implement, and maintain server-side applications, databases, and infrastructure components that support the functionality of web applications.
    • Participate in the full software development life cycle from planning to deployment.
    • Build responsive backend code, infrastructure and foundation for the platform.
    • Collaborate with the team to design, develop, unit test, and support new features.
    • Strive for high quality and rapid output through the use of agile software development best practices.
    • Write efficient, reusable and scalable code across presentation, business and data layers.
    • Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
    • Maintain and improve our tech stack.
    • Develop a flexible and well-structured backend architecture.
    • Document codebase architecture, design decisions, and deployment processes to facilitate knowledge sharing between team members.
    • Implement effective security protocols, data protection measures, and storage solutions.
    • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade software.
    • Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, security, and configurability.
    • Contribute to documentation, tests, and automation pipelines.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in back-end development, ideally within a Finance or FinTech environment.
    • Experience with Django and Python
    • Experience with Cloud - Microsoft Azure
    • Familiarity with CI/CD tools
    • Familiarity with Relational and Non-Relational Databases
    • Strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle
    • Experience with testing and debugging
    • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
    • Early stage startup experience
    • Ability to work independently and take initiative
    • Entrepreneurial spirit and a self-starter
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly independent environment and juggle multiple ongoing projects and responsibilities
