    Histotechnician at Labcorp summary:


    Laboratory histotechnology professional responsible for processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and performing immunohistochemistry on human tissue specimens to produce diagnostic slides.

    Duties include operating and maintaining manual and automated lab instruments, performing quality control and preventive maintenance, documenting results and equipment logs, and following laboratory SOPs and safety protocols.

    Requires an associate degree or equivalent regulatory qualification, histology/ASCP certification preferred, and 2+ years clinical lab experience in a high-volume pathology setting.

    **Pay Range: $ $41.00 per hour

    All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and

    prior

    relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

    Work Schedule:
     Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

    Job Responsibilities

    Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam

    Embedding and cutting human tissue samples with a microtome.

    Perform technical duties related to the production of

    histo

    pathological slides of surgical specimens

    Section the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide

    Perform various immuno

    histo

    chemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections

    Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures

    Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens

    Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures

    Report

    accurate

    and

    timely

    test results

    in order to

    deliver quality patient care

    Operate and

    maintain

    manual and automated instruments

    Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed

    Record equipment log data in

    an accurate

    and

    timely

    manner

    Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures

    Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies

    Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing,

    analysis

    and reporting

    Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as needed

    Requirements

    Associates in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements –

    Bachelor's

    degree is a plus

    gy and/or ASCP

    certifications are

    preferred 2 + years experience in a clinical lab setting.

    Proficient in embedding and microtomy processing various types of tissues samples, including skin, prostate, breast, gyn, GI

    Familiarity with routine

    histo

    l

    o

    gy procedures and equipment

    Immuno

    histo

    chemistry experience is a plus

    Comfortability embedding both large and small specimens

    Ability to accurately read all labels and documents

    Highly organized with a strong attention to detail

    Experience working in a

    high volume

    laboratory environment is desirable

    Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols

    Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen

    Must be able to pass a technical test consisting of embedding and sectioning tissue blocks.
