    Typical Day in the Life

    You will be exposed to a variety of multi-state sales/use tax consulting opportunities ranging from taxability research, due diligence, and audit defense and management. You will be responsible for leading sales/use tax engagements, including day-to-day consulting both internally and externally. You will also assist with management of delegated tasks. This position is open to hybrid in any of our Eide Bailly locations or remote.

    A typical day as a State and Local Sales/Use Tax Manager might include in the following:

  • Research of state sales/use tax issues including nexus determinations, taxability analyses and quantification of potential liabilities.
  • Prepare State Sales/Use Tax guidance on a variety of topics including but not limited to: nexus and taxability for sales/use taxes, best practices for sales/use tax
  • Assist clients with resolution of sales tax controversies, transactions, notices and audits.
  • Review of sales tax returns, including reconciliation.
  • Complete management of voluntary disclosure projects.
  • Client communications, project scoping, budgeting, staffing, and billing.
  • Monitor multi-state sales and use tax developments.
  • Who You Are

  • You have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (required).
  • You have a valid CPA license, CMI Certification in Sales/Use Tax, or are an actively licensed attorney (required).
  • You have 5 or more years of consulting experience in multi-state sales & use taxation (required).
  • Sales tax software engine experience helpful, but not required (Avalara, TaxJar).
  • You possess experience as a team leader: supervising teams to create an atmosphere of trust; seeking diverse views to encourage improvement and innovation; and coaching staff, including providing timely and meaningful written and verbal feedback.
  • You possess comprehensive technical skills as it relates to sales and use taxation and tax research and an ability to communicate to diverse audiences.
  • You have experience with voluntary disclosure compliance, audit defense, and extensive Excel modeling.
  • You are highly skilled at listening, identifying, and adapting to client needs in a friendly, timely and helpful manner.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States now or in the future without visa sponsorship.

    Benefits and Compensation

    Our compensation philosophy emphasizes competitive and equitable pay. Eide Bailly complies with all local/state regulations regarding displaying salary ranges. Final compensation decisions are dependent upon factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and internal equity.

    Salary Range: $110,000 - $150,000
