Lead our sustainability-oriented Landscape Project Division serving Charlevoix, Emmet and Cheboygan counties. Projects that we specialize in include shoreline erosion control & habitat restoration, natural stone retaining walls, patios & paths, garden & storm water control installations, and maintenance.

THE JOB
The Landscape Construction Project Manager will direct & work with crews on-site, material acquisition, equipment scheduling & operation, quality control, and work plan changes. A primary roll is to help assure that project work is completed to specifications, on time, and on budget.
The construction project manager (LCPM) will communicate with prospects and clients, and work with our General Manager and Designer to plan, cost out, sell and complete projects.
REPONSBILITIES
The LCPM will assist & support Landscape Construction Crew Leaders in the performance of the following responsibilities:
- Leading and supervising landscaping crew members to efficiently complete jobs and meet deadlines.
- Reading and implementing landscape plans of varying complexity including ordering tasks, assembling and organizing materials and delegating tasks based on individual skills and site priorities.
- A full range of landscape construction tasks, for example, Loading and unloading tools, equipment & supplies; Grading large areas to specified pitches and level; Plant removal, transplanting, pruning, installation, and care tasks; Hardscape site preparation and installation.
- Planning and organizing crew tasks
- Coordinate (written and spoken communication) with clients, designers, and managers to understand specific landscaping needs and deliver tailored solutions
- Ensuring that all work complies with construction, safety and environmental regulations.
- Using your judgement to prevent and avoid other safety and environmental dangers.
- Maintaining a clean, organized work site
- Providing training and mentorship to team members on horticultural & construction techniques, equipment use, and safety procedures
KEY EXPERIENCE
- Extensive experience in landscape construction
- Managing five or more employees in a labor-related field
- Implementing safety and environmental sustainability practices related to landscaping
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Management of multiple projects
- Proficient with a variety of hand & power tools
- Experience driving pickup trucks and pulling various trailers
- Expert in multiple aspects of landscape construction and gardening such as Planting; Plant care; Masonry hardscapes; Reading and implementing designs and plans; Working with a variety of power tools; Heavy equipment operation; Drainage and erosion control; and Natural shoreline restoration
- Familiar with most commercially available Michigan-native landscaping plants and common invasive plant species.
- Ability to identify, report, and/or treat plants pests and pathogens. Prefer pesticide applicators license 3a, 3b, 6
- Knowledge of Ecological Landscaping Practices ("ELPs," see button on careers page at for summary) and desire to promote ELPs to new and existing clients.
- Understanding of soil types as they relate to 1) Drainage, grading, and structural integrity; 2) Nutrient capacity and availability
- Understanding soil biology and principles of fertilization
Pay: $45, $60,000.00 per year
