    Shift: Sunday - Thursday (2 p.m. - 10 p.m.)

    JOB SUMMARY:

    To ensure vehicles are safe, reliable, and cost-efficient by conducting quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs. Responsible for expert diagnosis and repair to prevent breakdowns on the road, reduce vehicle downtime, and enhance overall fleet reliability.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Carry out required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within specified timeframes to enhance safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the fleet's life cycle.
    • Conduct FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles, including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and other company-owned equipment, in compliance with all legal requirements.
    • Perform quality preventive maintenance inspections on all fleet vehicles, including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, refrigeration units (Reefer), lift-gates, and light-duty vehicles.
    • Perform necessary maintenance repairs to maximize safety and reliability on all fleet vehicles.
    • Perform preventive maintenance, diagnosis, and repair on refrigeration units (Reefer).
    • Address Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports write-ups promptly and effectively.
    • Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications on various vehicle systems.
    • Document all work performed on work orders.
    • Provide guidance to Fleet Technicians I and II to support their professional development.
    • Assume moderate supervisory duties in the absence of Fleet Manager or Fleet Supervisors.
    • Proficiency in electrical meter testing.
    • Competency in controls and electric systems.
    • Undertake electrical repairs and welding projects as necessary.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education:

    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Current and valid driver's license (CDL Preferred, Not Required).

    Experience:

    • Medium / Heavy Duty truck technical training.
    • 2-year school and 4 years of experience OR
    • 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair.

    Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:

    • Annual Inspector Certification Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
    • Brake Inspector Certification Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.
    • ASE certifications & Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks.
    • EPA section 608 (Core & Type II) and 609 HVAC & Refrigeration Certification.

    Professional Skills:

    • Comprehensive knowledge and skill in all vehicle systems and components.
    • Proficient in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems on equipment.
    • Expertise in refrigeration systems diagnosis and repair.
    • Proficiency in Preventive Maintenance Inspections and repair.
    • Competent in welding and cutting.
    • Moderate computer skills.
    • Extensive knowledge of DOT regulations.
    • Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations.
    • Knowledge of environmental regulations.
    • Working knowledge of diagnostic software for OEM's and component manufacturers.
    • Must provide own tools necessary for maintenance repair and diagnostics.

    Physical Demands:

    • Various physical requirements including lifting, standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and operating equipment.
    • Ability to perform repetitive motions and tasks efficiently.

    Working Conditions:

    • Frequent exposure to various environmental conditions and working outdoors.
    • Non-traditional business hours including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
    • Possible travel to other locations as required.
    • Potential exposure to confined spaces and mechanical hazards.
