Description

Mueller is seeking a Metallurgist to assist in production and quality processes with emphasis in meeting customer deadlines, quality standards, safety improvements, scrap reduction, non-conformities, fewer returns and productivity improvements.

Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

This position will ultimately gain a more thorough understanding of the company's material and processes that could provide expansion into new markets.

Project work including but not limited to:
chip reconstitution, reduction of micro-porosity, selection of new alloys, production process, etc.

Develop practices to improve safety, quality, efficiency, yield, productivity, and costsDevelop and optimize process and product developmentApplies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potentialWork closely with operations and provide training to operating personnelProvide metallurgical assistance to management, engineering, foundry teams, and special projectsRequired Skills:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field of workPhD desired

Required Experience:4+ years progressive work-related experience with demonstrated proficiency in the discipline/technology/process related to the position including experience as a team member on project teams in a cross functional environment.

Brass foundry experience. Experience with C87850 alloy highly desirable.
