    The School of Engineering

    Join the team at Stanford University's School of Engineering, where innovation has been key for almost 100 years. Our faculty and students are passionate risk-takers who excel in various fields. As an Associate Director of Engineering Research Administration (ERA), you will play a crucial role in supporting cutting-edge research projects. Responsible for managing a large portfolio of awards, grants, and compliance activities, you will lead a team of dedicated professionals. Additionally, you will serve as a business relationship manager for key research offices at the university level.

    Your responsibilities include:

    • Direct and lead staff to achieve organizational goals.
    • Develop business plans to support research and teaching.
    • Ensure compliance with university policies and procedures.
    • Manage finances and budget cycles.
    • Coordinate grants and contracts.
    • Represent the unit's operations internally and externally.
    • Supervise a team supporting various functions.
    • *Other duties as assigned.

    Education & Experience (Required):

    • Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Required):

    • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
    • Strong financial expertise.
    • Expertise in grants and contract administration.
    • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong expertise in business and management applications.
    • Ability to manage deadlines.

    Education & Experience (Desired):

    • Over 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
    • Demonstrated change management skills.

    Working Conditions:

    • Occasional evening and weekend hours.

    Physical Requirements*:

    • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
    • Frequently sitting.
    • Occasionally stand/walk, write by hand, use a telephone, lift/carry/push/pull objects weighing 11-20 pounds.
    • Rarely sort/file paperwork, rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat.

    • Expected to comply with University policies.

    Pay Range:

    The expected compensation range for this role is competitive and ranges from $145,000 to $185,000 annually.
