    Open Scientist Positions for Autoimmunity and Oncology (Target Discovery Group)


    Simcere Pharmaceutical Group is building up its presence in North America with a newly formed drug discovery team in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

    We are seeking a creative, energetic, and self-motivated scientist to join our target discovery team with expertise in immunology, inflammation, and/or oncology.

    This is an exciting opportunity to apply your scientific skills to conduct state of the art experiments meant to identify unique and novel targets in the disease areas of autoimmunity, chronic inflammation and/or cancer.

    This position involves laboratory experimental work that would impact the future pipeline of the company.

    It will provide you with the opportunity to collaborate with different teams at Simcere and be involved in drug development from early stages to IND submission.


    In this position you will be required to:

    • Conduct cell-based screenings of potential targets using various molecular biology techniques in selected disease indications.
    • Design, conduct, analyze and present data with little supervision.
    • Setup/develop and perform genomic, protein, and cell-based target validation assays to confirm discoveries and determine mechanisms of action.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance the company's pipeline.
    • Be informed of the scientific advancement in your area of expertise.
    Requirements


    Qualifications and experience:


    PhD in molecular and cellular biology, immunology, cancer biology, biochemistry, genetics, or a related field with zero to three years of relevant experience.


    • Experience in cell based functional assays (flow cytometry, immune cells activation, co-culture, autoimmune models, killing assays, proliferation, apoptosis).
    • Skilled in molecular biology techniques (cloning, transfection, transduction, qPCR, CRISPR, RNAi, RNA seq, and western blot).
    • Previous experience with cell-based imaging (such as immunofluorescence microscopy or Incucyte) is a plus.
    • Experience with mouse disease models is highly desired.
    • Demonstrate a proven track record of scientific accomplishments in target identification and/or validation as evident by scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals or participation in patent preparation.
    • Effective communicator and multitasker with strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
