    Position Details
    Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job
    The Instruction Librarian serves as the Library's expert for instructional methodologies and techniques and works collaboratively with the Research and Instruction (R&I) librarians to develop and implement a programmatic approach to in-person and online information literacy instruction to meet the learning, teaching, and research needs of the university community.

    This 12-month tenure-track position is expected to participate in professional activities, professional development, scholarly research, publication, and service activities as outlined in Academic Policy Statement 900417, Faculty Reappointment, Tenure, and Promotion.

    Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
    Develops and maintains expertise in learning theories, information literacy, and instructional design and technologies.
    Creates and/or facilitates professional development training for library personnel on techniques, evidence-based best practices, and emerging trends in library and information literacy instruction.
    Coordinates and participates in the continuing development of credit-bearing library course(s), with option to participate in the instruction rotation.
    Guides R&I librarians in:
    Designing and delivering high-quality face-to-face and online library instruction.
    Creating modules, tutorials, and other instructional materials that teach critical thinking, research skills, and information literacy.
    Developing lesson plans and materials for common introductory level courses, including English Composition.
    Oversees the quantitative and qualitative assessment of library instructional programs and identifies ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of instructional efforts.
    Participates as part of the R&I team to:
    Provide library instruction, embedded librarianship services, and research assistance for courses, groups, and individuals as needed or assigned.
    Provide coordinated information services, including general reference, in a variety of formats (e.g., in-person, chat, email) which may include selected evenings or weekends.
    Engage in outreach activities to meet information needs of students and promote awareness of library services and resources.
    Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the library's collections and resources; contributes to the library's collection development efforts and assumes collection development responsibilities for assigned subject areas.

    Reports to the Director of Library Public Services
    Educational Requirements for the Position
    A degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited Master's program
    Experience Required for the Position
    Experience with information literacy informed classroom teaching and instructional design is preferred.
    Other Requirements for the Position
    This is a tenure track, 12-month position. Reports to the Director of Library Public Services.
