    Description

    We are seeking a talented and motivated technician who is interested in the subtractive and additive manufacturing process of rapid prototyping components for robotics systems and industrial equipment.

    This position reports to the Prototype Lab Manager.

    This role is an opportunity to join our team full time (40 hours/week). The opportunities will be based in the Greater Boston Area, in our state-of-the-art facility in North Reading, MA.

    Interaction with team:

    The Hardware Mechanical Lab Tech (Machinist title) will be responsible for:

    • Fabrication of mechanical prototypes using manufacturing methods of Water-Jet, CNC Milling/Lathe, and 3d printing.
    • Assist with the day to day operation, maintenance and safety.
    • Finished product deburring, tapping, and/or secondary operations.
    • Work with engineers to ensure mechanical prototypes are completed.

    Candidate Requirements


    Basic qualifications:

    • Prepare, Setup and Operate multiple CNC and manual machines.
    • Develop and refine manufacturing processes to meet all design requirements.
    • Inspect parts to verify dimensions. (Micrometers, Vernier, Gage pins, etc.)
    • Ability to read blueprints including GD&T
    • Interpret and complete machining operations from CAD models, drawings or verbal instructions.
    • Meet delivery dates.
    • Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines.
    • Communicate with shop leader on roadblocks and process improvements.
    • Aid engineers about manufacturability of their projects.
    • Machine maintenance: Oils, coolants, additives and cleanliness.
    • Must troubleshoot and solve problems with machines, tools or programs.
    • Interoperate dimensions from solid models or prints.
    • Use of hand tools.
    • Basic knowledge of 3d printing principals.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Solidworks basics.
    - +3 years CNC machining experience.

    • Knowledge of CAMWorks or similar CAM software.
    • Sheet metal fabrication experience. (Bending, cutting, folding various types of metal)
    • 3D printing experience.
