    Description

    In this role, you will partner with our lines of business to develop, maintain, and enhance strategic, risk-based compliance management plans that enable risk-takers to achieve their objectives in a compliant manner. Develop and enhance compliance programs tailored to compliance with consumer protection laws, including, but not limited to the prohibition of unfair, deceptive or abusive acts or practices (UDAAP) as well as regulatory expectations. Collaborate with peers to execute our strategic plan for enhancing the credit union's CMS. Lead and develop a team of advisory managers, delivering risk-based and sound advice, and contributing to the strategic vision of the compliance department.
    Responsibilities

    • Assist with program risk assessments for supported lines of business.
    • Advise business partners on applicable regulatory requirements, development of controls and monitoring, remediation/corrective action on CMS deficiencies, and changes to laws and regulations.
    • Provide consultation to business partners to identify and mitigate risk within their business units.
    • Serve as a primary point of contact to regulators for CMS topics within the span of control.
    • Assist with UDAAP risk assessments across the enterprise either independently (e.g., credit card rewards) or in conjunction with broader risk assessments (e.g., Collections Department).
    • Maintain policies, standards and procedures related to compliance with consumer financial prototection laws and regulations.
    • Manage legal and regulatory challenges by understanding current and future related legislation and regulations for the industry.
    • Plan, oversee and lead the work of the team to meet functional and individual operational objectives and goals. Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities. Responsible for hire, fire, performance, discipline and problem-resolution decisions.


    Education:

    • Bachelors Degree - Computer Science, Business or Related - Minimum
    • Graduate Degree - Computer Science, Business or Releated - Preferred


    Years of Experience:

    • 10 years - Lending, compliance or related - Minimum
    • 3 years - Team Management - Minimum


    In Lieu of Education:

    • 12 years - Lending, compliance including team management


    License/Certifications/Training:

    • CRCM or CUCE Certification - Preferred
    • Juris Doctor - Preferred
