    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Infection Preventionist is responsible to plan, organize, develop, coordinate, and direct the infection control program and its activities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and in partnership with the Administrator and Central Support clinical team.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Maintains knowledge of current regulations and standards of practice relevant to infection prevention and control.
    Plans, organizes, implements, evaluates, coordinates, and directs the center's infection control program

    Coordinates and monitors compliance with current CMS, CDC, OSHA, and local regulations, guidelines, and standards of practice concerning infection control and facilitates related training and education programs.

    Coordinates and maintains team member and resident health programs including coordination of immunization and vaccination program.
    Facilitates regular review of the infection control program and interprets infection control policies and procedures as necessary.
    Leads the Infection Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee. Reports on infection control trends and makes recommendations to the Center Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement committee.
    Reviews and analyzes infectious disease reports and diagnostics.

    Confirms completion of all appropriate follow up, intervention, documentation, and reporting associated with infections occurring among residents and team members.

    Tracks and trends infection occurrences and rates.

    Prepares summaries of infection data, with written and oral reports and recommendations to the Director of Nursing, Administrator, and regional leadership.

    Education & Experience you need to qualify:
    You need to have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
    You must have an unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice.
    Minimum of one year of nursing experience in acute or long-term care.
    One year in a supervisory or management position with experience with staff development, training and scheduling preferred. Individual must be a team player, well organized, and flexible.

    Full-time and Part-Time team members (over 20 hours/week) accrue PTO at rate of 0.0423/hour during their first year.
