    The Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture (MCAAHC), is seeking an experienced\r

    Main Purpose of Job

    The main purpose of this position is to oversee all aspects of the museum's research, interpretation, and presentation of African American heritage and practice. The incumbent will develop, alongside the Curator of Collections & Exhibitions, exhibition content and implement research projects and exhibition-related programs with a clear vision of the variety of needs for a diverse audience. The incumbent will also collaborate with colleagues, interns, volunteers, and community stakeholders to engage visitors in curatorial projects, services, and programs.\r

    POSITION DUTIES

    Development\r
    ●\r
    Creates innovative and dynamic interpretive content for\r
    permanent and temporary exhibitions, traveling shows, virtual exhibitions, and off-site projects� \r
    ●\r
    Writes exhibition/gallery guides, catalogs,\r
    press releases and other promotional material, hand-outs, reports, and articles\r
    that interpret collection and loan items\r
    ●\r
    Develops exhibition-related materials and exhibition-related\r
    public programs\r

    \r
    Exhibition Outreach and Instruction�\r
    \t●\r
    Acts as\r
    BDM liaison for\r
    exhibitors and donors\r
    \t●\r
    Provides interpretive strategies for docents\r
    \t●\r
    Seeks\r
    exhibition partnerships and cultivates donor/lender relationships\r

    Teaming\r
    \t●������ Assists with conducting tours\r
    \t●������ Assists with planning and implementation of docent training\r

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:�A\r
    Bachelor's degree in art history, museum studies, curatorial practice or\r
    related field from an accredited college or university.\r
    \r
    \r
    Experience:� three years of experience curating history and art\r
    exhibitions in a museum and/or gallery setting.\r
    \r

    DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Master's degree in art\r
    history, or related field\r
    \r
    \r
    1 year of supervisory or\r
    managerial experience for an employee, intern, or volunteer.\r
    \r
    \r
    Minimum of five years\r
    of progressively responsible curatorial experience in a museum or gallery\r
    setting�\r
    \r
    \r
    Specialization in African American Art and/or African American history.\r
    \r
    \r
    Knowledge of and\r
    experience with principles of research, exhibition development and�Installation�\r
    \r
    \r
    Ability to synthesize\r
    complex information in a manner that is engaging, inspirational,�relevant, and accessible\r
    to the general public�\r
    \r
    \r
    Commitment to accuracy,\r
    consistency, and attention to detail�\r
    \r
    \r
    Proficiency in planning\r
    and organization�\r
    \r
    \r
    Computer software\r
    skills including but not limited to MS Office, Pastperfect,�Various Adobe programs\r
