    Pay will be determined based on location of selected individual.


    Anchorage salary:
    $3,366.40 biweekly


    Juneau salary:
    $3,534.40 biweekly


    What you will be doing:


    The Division of Water, within the Department of Environmental Conservation, is recruiting an Environmental Program Manager 2 for the Village Safe Water Program.

    The position leads a team of engineers, project managers, and environmental specialists that plan and implement grant funded sanitation infrastructure improvement projects for rural Alaskan communities.


    The person in this position will be part of the Facilities sections leadership team, which seeks to protect public health by ensuring communities have the technical, financial, and managerial capacity to own and operate their water and wastewater systems in a safe manner, providing technical assistance to water and wastewater system owners and operators when needed, and by funding critical sanitation infrastructure improvements.

    This position contributes to that mission by implementing sanitation infrastructure improvements projects that ensure regulatory compliance with drinking water and wastewater discharge regulations, and protect the quality of Alaska's rivers, lakes and seas.

    The Village Safe Water team collaborates with other programs and agencies to find and fund solutions to rural sanitation challenges across the state.

    The Village Safe Water Program is one of three programs within the Facilities section of the Division of Water.

    Facilities is a team of environmental specialists, engineers and project management professionals dedicated to the mission of providing safe drinking water and protecting water quality for all Alaskans.

    The working environment you can expect:
    This position will be located in the Anchorage or Juneau. The work schedule is flexible schedule and telework opportunities are available. Occasional travel for training and project site inspections should be expected.

    Special Notice:

    • A Valid Alaskan Driver's License is Required
    • This position includes some travel within the State (normally three to four trips of up to three days per year), travel may include small plane, boat or snow machine.
    Minimum Qualifications

    Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the following competencies


    • Scientific Research - Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and theories of scientific principles related to environmental, ecological, biological, or physical science and the methods, and processes used to conduct a systematic and objective inquiry; including study design, collection, analysis, and interpretation of data; and the reporting of results.
    • Stakeholder Management - Knowledge of the concepts, practices, and techniques used to identify, engage, influence, and monitor relationships with individuals and groups connected to a work effort; including those actively involved, those who exert influence over the process and its results, and those who have a vested interest in the outcome (positive or negative).
    • Performance Management - Setting clear goals and expectations, tracking progress against the goals, ensuring feedback, and addressing performance problems and issues promptly.
    • Fostering Teamwork - The ability to demonstrate interest, skill, and success in getting groups to learn to work together; and develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with others inside and/or outside the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support.
    • Project Management - Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance.

    Equivalent to those typically gained by:


    A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an environmental, physical, biological, or natural science; engineering; planning; or natural resources.


    AND
    Experience managing the delivery of services in an environmental program and supervising professional level staff.
