    Job Overview

    Provides interpreting for consumers and staff within a variety of therapeutic environments and specialty areas. Works in cooperation with the multi-disciplinary team.


    Qualifications:


    Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree plus three to six months of the job training and orientation.

    Worker must adhere to the National Association of the Deaf (NAD)/RID Code of Professional Conduct.

    Three years interpreting experience is preferred; minimum standard is successful completion of screening by the NJ State Division of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing or certification through Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).

    Experience with the deaf psychiatric population and developmentally disabled individuals a plus. Must be able to adapt to a wide range of visual/gestural communication methods. Ability to manage potential role conflicts that may emerge between the interpreting role and other job requirements.

    Work requires the ability to prepare routine written reports and correspondence or perform other duties requiring a comparable level of communication skill.
