The RoleThe Director of Regulatory Affairs leads and executes ACMA's regulatory strategy for the fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites industry.
This role is ideal for a policy professional who loves regulatory issues, enjoys working with manufacturers, and wants to shape policy at the intersection of innovation, sustainability, and manufacturing.
Serving as a recognized expert and trusted industry voice, the Director, Regulatory Affairs engages directly with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies—including EPA and OSHA—while collaborating closely with ACMA members, technical experts, and industry partners to advance shared policy priorities.
Shape Regulatory Policy
Track, analyze, and anticipate regulatory and policy developments affecting FRP composites.
Develop and advance industry policy positions, advocacy strategies, and member engagement opportunities.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with regulators, researchers, trade associations, NGOs, and ACMA members.
Represent ACMA in regulatory meetings, coalitions, hearings, and industry events.
Lead Issues Management & Advocacy
Serve as ACMA's internal and external subject matter expert on manufacturing related regulatory issues.
Analyze proposed regulations, guidance, and scientific issues; translate complex topics into clear positions and recommendations.
Partner with internal experts and outside counsel to advocate before federal agencies through written comments, testimony, and briefings.
Develop position statements, presentations, and talking points to support internal alignment and external engagement.
Collaborate and Execute
Work cross-functionally to support key policy initiatives and organizational priorities.
Lead consensus-building discussions with member companies and stakeholders.
Develop and execute short and long-term regulatory strategies, managing workflows and deliverables with minimal oversight.
Work closely with association leadership including CEO, and the VPs of Government Relations and Composite Growth Initiative to advance advocacy priorities.
The Ideal CandidateYou are a collaborative self-starter who thrives in a highly autonomous role.
You enjoy digging into regulatory policy, working with manufacturers on technical issues, and serving‑starter‑level policy concepts and detailed technical matters as a trusted advisor to internal and external stakeholders.
You bring strong analytical skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to translate complex regulatory issues into clear, actionable strategies.Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MS or similar) preferred.
5–7 years of experience in regulatory or policy roles within manufacturing, a trade association, or government.
Demonstrated success influencing policy or regulatory outcomes.
Strong written, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with confidence presenting to technical and nontechnical audiences.
Excellent project management skills and comfort managing multiple priorities.
Proficiency with Office 365 and openness to learning new tools.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range:
$105,000–$115,000, commensurate with experience.
Comprehensive benefits including health and dental insurance, 401(k) match, paid time off, summer hours, winter break, bonus opportunities, and more.
