    Position Overview

    The Manager, Metrology will be responsible for leading and managing the metrology program for Exact Sciences. This individual will manage, lead, train, and assist a team of associates that are responsible for preventative maintenance, calibration, and repairs on custom, complex, and off-the-shelf laboratory instrumentation.

    Essential Duties

    include but are not limited to the following:

    • Apply continuous improvement assessments to the metrology program to ensure it meets the needs of the organization and complies with all relevant regulations.
    • Oversee the development and compliance of calibration and preventative maintenance schedules for equipment to support applicable procedures and processes.
    • Provide timely and transparent communication to leadership; including, but not limited to, the establishment of effective metrics for management review.
    • Maintain and ensure the validity of the equipment history database and synchronization with other databases, manually or through integration.
    • Develop and maintain the metrology department budget for their specific area; including, but not limited to, planning for capacity expansion and scale up measures.
    • Proactively manage vendors by establishing clear service level expectations, monitoring performance, and providing timely and accurate communication.
    • Manage and ensure operational objectives for team members and provide regularly scheduled feedback throughout the year.
    • Contribute to the development of operations, engineering, and facilities planning for growth and cost containment projects.
    • Provide metrology guidance for all projects which require instrumentation integration.
    • Act as a resource for improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) by both writing and reviewing documents.
    • Partner with the validation and quality engineering teams to develop and execute equipment qualifications.
    • Remain current on metrology best practices and regulations as they relate to and impact operations.
    • Develop and train team members on new calibration procedures and assist in executing and documenting the processes.
    • Coach and develop team members; provide an environment that encourages personal and professional development.
    • Ensure staff receive appropriate knowledge, skill development, and growth opportunities.
    • Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize, and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
    • Communicate goals so employees understand them and their role in achieving them.
    • Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.

    • Ability to work seated for approximately 50% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 50% of a typical working day.
    • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 75% of a typical working day.
    • Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
    • May be exposed to hazardous materials.
    • May perform repetitious movement of hands and fingers while working with computers or instruments.
    • Continuous hand/eye coordination, close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • Ability and means to travel between San Diego locations.
    • Ability to travel 25% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in electronics, mechanical engineering, computer science, clinical laboratory science, chemical, or biological sciences, or other field related to the essential duties of the position; or high school degree/general education diploma and 4 years of relevant experience in a field related to the essential duties of the position in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
    • 5+ years of experience in equipment calibration and maintenance.
    • 3+ years of experience leading or directing people and/or project teams.
    • Basic computer skills to include Internet navigation, Email usage, and word processing.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Excel macros and pivot tables, PowerPoint, and Visio.
    • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
    • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Hands-on experience with equipment qualification.
    • Experience in biotech manufacturing, preferably in a GMP and/or ISO 13485 environment.
    • Knowledge of ISO 17025:2005 and 21 CRF Part 820 requirements regarding inspection measuring and test equipment.
    • Familiarity with equipment service management software.

    Salary Range:

    $93, $149,000.00 The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
