    Overview

    Kimley-Horn and Associates (KHA), a national consulting firm, is looking to hire an Entry Level Strategic Communications & Outreach professional to be part of our Salt Lake City, Utah (UT) team This position is full-time and requires occasional on-call availability 24 hours a day, seven days a week for telephone calls and/or emails. Some night or weekend work may be required as needed. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to use and expand their skills and experience in strategic communication, public involvement, project coordination, business development, and event planning. This is not a remote position.

    What we do: KHA Strategic Communications & Outreach Team contracts with transportation agencies, local governments, private clients, and internal KHA disciplines providing communication and outreach services. We design and implement project specific engagement and communication plans based on the needs of the project utilizing a variety of standard and virtual tools. KHA also plans several transportation related events, conferences, and workshops.

    Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day operations for assigned projects.
  • Develop effective public outreach strategies and plans for high profile transportation projects.
  • Monitor and respond to public inquires via project hotlines and emails accounts.
  • Help organize and execute events including open houses, workshops, public hearings, neighborhood meetings, ground breakings, ribbon cuttings, workshops, conferences, one-on-one meetings and other public events.
  • Develop public outreach materials including postcards, fliers, emails and announcements.
  • Support and monitor scheduling and production deadlines to meet internal and external client requests for communications materials.
  • Participate in business development activities and engage with key clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the KH Communications Team.
  • Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • Excellent people skills including the ability to communicate clearly, listening and summarizing information, documenting interactions, and problem-solve or reduce conflicts when possible
  • Customer service mindset.
  • Ability to interface with a variety of clients and the public.
  • Be able to communicate effectively in written and oral formats including speaking with people one-on-one or in large groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Flexibility to periodically work outside regular working hours and travel, as required for business needs.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and insurance (we reimburse mileage).
