As a Full-Time Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating effective munication between deaf or hard of hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff. You will work closely with students in various educational settings, including classrooms, assemblies, and extracurricular activities, ensuring they have access to the information and resources necessary for academic success.

Responsibilities:

Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa for deaf or hard of hearing students in educational settings.
Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment by providing effective munication support to students.
Collaborate with teachers, staff, and administrators to ensure the integration of interpreting services into classroom activities and curriculum.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times, respecting the privacy and dignity of students and their families.
Stay updated on best practices and trends in sign language interpreting and deaf education to continually improve service delivery.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpreting, Deaf Education, or a related field.
Minimum 3.5 score on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA).
Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent preferred.
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English, with excellent munication skills in both languages.
Experience working as a sign language interpreter in educational settings preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and staff.
