    Job Title: Controller

    Location: Birmingham, AL

    Work Model: Onsite

    Job Summary: Under the guidance of the CFO, the Controller will manage the accounting teams operations, focusing on a diverse real estate portfolio. This role involves streamlining the CFOs workload by supervising key financial processes, including but not limited to receivables, payables, reconciliations, and financial reporting for properties. They will also mentor and oversee the accounting team as directed by the CFO.

    Essential Job Functions:

    Core Duties:

    • Establish and enforce robust financial policies and procedures
    • Guide and evaluate the performance of team members
    • Provide support during audits

    Routine Tasks:

    • Craft, assess, and refine financial entries
    • Handle treasury functions
    • Manage the reconciliation of financial accounts
    • Supervise financial transactions for properties
    • Validate and authorize payment processes
    • Coordinate and approve wire transfers
    • Address accounting matters related to tenant and property changes
    • Resolve various financial discrepancies

    Monthly Obligations:

    • Compile and disseminate financial reports for stakeholders
    • Ensure accurate financial statements and necessary adjustments for properties
    • Maintain oversight of loan tracking systems
    • Generate and distribute comprehensive financial summaries
    • Administer property funding and execute necessary transfers
    • Manage escrow allocations to reserve funds

    Quarterly Responsibilities:

    • Direct updates and reporting for loan and escrow accounts
    • Produce and assemble asset management reports
    • Process distributions and payments to investors

    Annual Commitments:

    • Supervise budgeting tasks for properties
    • Coordinate the preparation and issuance of tax documents
    • Conduct reconciliations for operating expenses
    • Execute annual contributions to reserve funds
    • Manage property tax payments and reconciliations

    Additional Roles:

    • Maintain the property owner database
    • Oversee financial aspects of property transitions
    • Ensure compliance with property contracts and vendor agreements
    • Support the CFO, Executive Team, and Stakeholders in various capacities
