    Overview

    Position Summary: The Associate Research Specialist assists Principal Investigator with the development and implementation of research activities conducted in the enterprise. The Associate Research Specialist will work directly with the Neuroimmunology and Demyelinating Disease Program and Dr. Jonathan D. Santoro. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: data entry, sample collection, specimen processing, preparation and management of reagents and supplies, subject recruitment, consenting families, assisting with research, management and analysis, grant preparation, professional presentations and preparation of manuscripts for publication. Administrative duties such as updating IRBs, organizing and documenting meetings. Other responsibilities may include: administration of developmental assessments and psychometric tests and administration of questionnaires and surveys to parents. This is a full-time position with a minimum expected commitment of two years. This position is ideal for individuals looking for research experience prior to applying to graduate or medical school for postgraduate studies. Interested applicants will have the ability to perform research and develop their own projects if interested as well as published academic manuscripts.We are seeking a dedicated individual to oversee the data collection and management of multiple ongoing studies centered around children with neuroimmunologic disorders (e.g., multiple sclerosis) and Down syndrome.

    Minimum Qualifications: 1+ years of experience performing laboratory research; neuroscience or genomics lab preferred. Experience with blood and cerebrospinal fluid processing highly beneficial. Ability to accurately enter data into the computer system. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet skills required. Ability to speak and understand Spanish preferred. Basic filing, typing and organizing skills.

    Responsibilities include:

  • Recruiting, screening, and scheduling participants.
    * Familiarity with data collection and processing platforms such as REDCap, Qualtrics, SPSS, Matlab, and advanced Microsoft Office skills
    * Conducting sample collection and engaging directly with patients.
    * Administering developmental assessments and psychometric tests.
    * Conducting questionnaires and surveys with parents.
    * Managing and documenting collected data.
    * Performing administrative tasks such as updating Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), organizing meetings, and maintaining documentation.

    Education/Licensure/Certifications: High School Diploma or GED required.

    Bachelor's degree preferred in related scientific field preferred.

    Certified clinical research associate/coordinator preferred.

    Pay Scale Information

    USD $34, USD $56,212.00

Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
