    Description
We are looking for talented individuals to join SGB Enterprises as a Mechanical Design Engineer. Our design team, innovative designs and engineering process are critical to the success of our company.
    Responsibilities

    • Mechanical and Conceptual Design- turning research ideas into technical models and plans using Solidworks
    • Creating and maintaining 3D models and assemblies using Solidworks modelling software
    • Designing structures to accurately represent the pilot-vehicle interface.
    • Designing LED or lamp illuminated panels and bezels that is evenly illuminated, light balanced and that accurately replica the look of the real aircraft panel
    • Designing LCD display backlight illumination assemblies that incorporates CFL, LEDs, NVIS LEDs, reflectors, light guides and turning films to meet customer's brightness requirements
Knowledge of engineering, fabrication, design and materials as it relates to aerospace and training products

Analyzing FEA data and modifying the design to meet requires

Communicating and implementing GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) into designs to ensure accuracy, reduce cost and improve overall quality

Reverse engineering of real flight instruments

Scanning OE devices and manipulating models to create replica designs

Creating part and assembly documentation packages, as well as work instructions.

Developing unique and novel design, product and systems approaches to support training requirements on the absence of customer's specifications

Developing complex electromechanical designs that accurately emulate aircraft instrument control mechanisms (grips, pedals, seats, engine controls)

Collaborating in teams to solve unique design problems.

Interfacing with customers to help define requirements for new simulated instruments and systems

Researching and selecting mechanical components such as solenoids, dampers, and stepper motors.

Researching and selecting electrical components such as LCDs, LEDs, encoders, switches, and potentiometers.

Researching and selecting motion/servo-controlled components to support various simulator flight dynamics for controls and motion bases

Researching and selecting visual systems solutions that includes: video generators, terrain
databases, monitors, projections systems and domes for out the window systems that tie into our training simulators.

Designing training solutions that seamlessly integrates complex tactical/real aircraft/OEM equipment into our training simulators

Interfacing directly with fabricators and vendors to come up with cutting-edge, cost-effective components.

Supporting procurement in finding alternate mechanical and electrical components.

Developing and testing prototypes of devices your design

Overseeing the first article/first fit assembly of the device they design

Performing 'as built' investigation and analysis on simulators, build to print packages and customer furnished models

Researching and developing manufacturing and serviceability approaches for products and systems

    Providing customer technical support

    Managing design to cost targets

Following SGB's phase gated design project and managing projects to a timely completion
