    Summary: The Manager, Environmental Health and Safety will be responsible for partnering with operations, maintenance, and support staff. This includes planning, developing, implementing, updating, and administering EHS policies, procedures, programs, and training to ensure compliance with all company standards and governmental regulations that protect Trident employees and assets.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Partners with site Management, Human Resources, and Corporate Safety to deploy and implement the Trident Safety Process and to fully prepare or maintain facilities for OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) accreditation.
    • Develops and manages inspection procedures to identify and address areas presenting hazard or risk.
    • Establishes reporting procedures to track and document inspection findings.
    • Implements and oversees the administration and training of policies and procedures for all environmental and wastewater processes within the facility.
    • Manages and maintains industrial wastewater treatment system, including collection and conveyance systems.
    • Coordinates, trains, and provides technical expertise to other wastewater treatment operations staff and coordinates on-site responses to unusual occurrences and emergencies.
    • Manages stormwater pollution prevention program and responds to emergencies involving release of pollutants.
    • Evaluates hazardous conditions or practices and develops and implements effective and sustainable hazard control practices and programs.
    • Develops and implements training programs to cover emergency procedures, environmental compliance, workplace safety, and other areas consistent with governmental regulations and business needs. Maintains training records.
    • Ensures safety compliance by overseeing Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulatory shifts other regulatory related activities and procedures.
    • Establishes, tracks, and delivers workers' compensation cost reduction and containment practices and procedures.
    • Plans and directs safety and industrial hygiene services and monitors third-party administration of the Workers Compensation program.
    • Ensures Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are in place and followed during release of or exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants.
    • Maintains documentation for regulatory and company compliance.
    • Leads or monitors safety committee meetings, and related activities.
    • Acts as the EHS Pillar owner and is responsible for workstream pace and completion.
    • Manages annual Trident Internal Safety audits, Tabletop and Drill activities.
    • Provides support during OSHA, EPA, PSM, and other regulatory audits.
    • Defines and prioritizes site programs to meet the needs of regulatory compliance, risk analysis recommendations, corporate policies and site-specific procedures and audit findings. Assists plant staff in prioritization of action items to address gaps.
    • Oversees safety processes related to the Trident Performance System.
    • Identifies sources of safety and health risk and develops programs, policies, and procedures. Perform risk analysis/JSA/JHA on job task. Maintains Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) program.
    • Investigates fatalities, serious injuries, and near misses that occur at company facilities while leading A3 for any recordables.
    • Reviews company accident statistics and makes recommendations for correction using root cause correction action processes.
    • Works with HR and site management to resolve personnel and performance issues for dotted-line reports and determines appropriate course of action.
    • May be responsible for managing a team of EHS staff. Setting priorities, completing performance reviews, providing guidance, direction, coaching and feedback.
    Additional Responsibilities:
    • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
    • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
    This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $90k to $140k.

    Minimum Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, or other relevant technical fields (or equivalent combination of education and additional experience)
    • A minimum of 5 years of increasing responsibilities in EHS and/or environmental & safety programs in manufacturing, production, or a related industry
    • A minimum of 4 years of supervisory/management experience
    • HAZWOPER certification is required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
    • Ability to establish and evaluate strategic goals and metrics for measuring success.
    • Strong collaboration, analytical, influential, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including interfacing with site management and leading group meetings.
    • Must be results-oriented with the ability to drive continuous improvement within the Safety and Occupational Health department as well as the overall organization.
    • Strong working knowledge technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
    • Strong knowledge of Federal and State L&I and OHSA regulations, safety practices.
    • Working knowledge of all applicable local, regional, and federal requirements.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Occupational Health-Safety and/or accredited professional certification professional is strongly preferred.
    • Experience in Environmental or Wastewater treatment in a manufacturing, production, or related industry.
    • Ability to obtain Operator Level IV Wastewater Certification (or higher) from the State of Washington.
    • Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, including preliminary, primary, secondary, digestion, sludge handling, water, chemical, electrical, and hydraulic support systems
    • Knowledge of and skill in applying sampling, testing, and laboratory procedures
    • Ability to work in confined spaces.
    • Skill in operating complex computer control systems and identifying normal and abnormal operating conditions.
    • Experience in the seafood industry or in a further process operation (batter, breaded, fried)
    Physical Demands:

    The employee is frequently required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

    Job requires working in close confines.

    The employee moves objects regularly up to 25 pounds.
