    Job Description:
    Science and Technology Corporation (STC) is seeking to hire a Satellite Systems Engineer in support of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service (NESDIS) satellite missions. Systems engineers at NESDIS support the planning, procurement, operation, and sustainment of satellite systems and observational capabilities for NOAA, including the ground systems needed to operate the satellites and collect, process, distribute, and store their data. They are responsible for program and project level management activities for current and future environmental satellite missions, instruments, ground systems, products and annual satellite program budgets.

    Job Responsibilities:
    • Apply systems engineering methodologies including CONOPS generation, systems architecture definition, systems analysis, architecture and design, system performance modeling, integration and test management, and/or model-based systems engineering.
    • Lead or support strategic planning and special studies.
    • Apply engineering or scientific knowledge in satellite systems engineering and space mission design to the management and oversight of the formulation, planning, and development of environmental satellites. Includes preformulating and formulation services: candidate, preliminary analysis and system definition studies.
    • Manage satellite system and ground systems requirements. Establish and codify requirements and lower-level user needs (i.e., resolution, timeliness, and accuracy).
    • Manage the integration and execution of activities, risk posture, and resources.
    • Formulate, execute, advise on, and explain recommendations or solutions to modify standard practices, processes, and techniques; resolves a wide variety of complex problems.
    • Function as project engineer for operational environmental satellites and other engineering projects exploring, developing, and testing new systems, requirements and integrated and/or derived products.

    Job Requirements
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident / Green Card holder with at least 2 years residing in the US.
    Bonus Points if You Have:
    • Systems engineering experience at NOAA, NASA, or DoD for satellite missions or ground systems.
    • Knowledge of the NOAA or NASA ground system architecture, current missions and remote sensing community.
    • Knowledge of NOAA data products and services.
    • The ability to work both independently and within a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
    • The ability to work on multiple projects and keep track of deadlines.
    • A detail-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
    Education:
    • Degree in an Engineering discipline with 4-20 years of experience
    • Program management experience or ability to quickly learn.
