    Auburn University Campus Safety and Security seeks candidates for the position of Clery Compliance Specialist This position is responsible for evaluations, analysis, and administrative support for the Clery Act compliance program.

    This individual facilitates institutional responsibilities for and oversight of compliance with federal regulatory requirements, state laws, and institutional policies and procedures.

    Coordinates the preparation and publication of reports and records, ensuring requirements are met and that all information is accurate. Provides training and guidance to others on campus.

    Assists with development and implementation of policies, programs, and activities that ensure the institution's overall compliance with the Clery Act and associated regulations.

    Assigns and coordinates groups of employees to achieve plans of action and recommendations to meet compliance and applicable accreditation standards.

    May be responsible for training, assisting, or assigning tasks to others. May provide input to performance reviews of other employees.

    Essential Functions


    • Identifies and trains institutional Campus Security Authorities (CSAs). Requests crime statistics and communicates with CSAs to share updates and changes in responsibilities.
    • Develops and assists with training and outreach programs required to meet Clery Act requirements. Develops and implements training for Campus Security Authorities.
    • Maintains complete list of all institutional properties identified as part of the university's Clery geography. Identifies separate campuses and creates campus maps. Identifies all law enforcement agencies with jurisdiction over Clery geography and requests crime statistics.
    • Conducts and assists with emergency exercises for all campuses as required by the Clery Act. Maintains associated documentation.
    • Drafts annual security and fire safety reports for all separate campuses in accessible format. Gathers and compiles annual crime and fire statistics for inclusion in reports. May submit annual statistics to the Department of Education.
    • Maintains metrics for Clery compliance activities and facilitates dashboard reporting for senior leadership.
    • Classifies crime statistics according to the Clery Act guidelines. Maintains daily crime and fire log by receiving reports daily; maintains an audit trail of crimes to be reported in the annual crime statistics and related documentation.
    • Maintains Clery administrative files for each calendar year, containing all documentation necessary to demonstrate compliance with the Clery Act.
    • Contributes to Campus Safety and Security programs, goals, and objectives related to economy, quality, customer satisfaction, and/or image through teamwork, cooperation, suggestions, and personal productivity and conduct.
    • Assists with response to emergencies as directed by Supervisor. May be required to work outside of normal business hours in support of university emergency management efforts.
    Minimum Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    Degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, Business Administration, Higher Education, Law or relevant field.

    Level I - Bachelor's degree in discipline appropriate to position with no experience.


    Level II- Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of experience in coordinating a compliance program, data gathering, analysis, law enforcement, and training.


    Level III- Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of experience in coordinating a compliance program, data gathering, analysis, law enforcement, and training.

    Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications

    • Ability to resolve routine questions of problems and make judgement decisions on routine matters of relatively small impact
    • Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds & educations
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills

    • Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications

    • Certified Clery Compliance Officer (CCCO)
    • Working knowledge of SmartSheet
    • IBSTPPI Certified Instructor (or equivalent)
    • Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility requirements
    • Previous experience in regulatory compliance
    • Knowledge of the Clery Act
    • Experience in facilitating emergency exercises
    • Previous law enforcement or legal experience
