- Sort and organize items returned from the facilities.
- Handle and process returns, credits, and the destruction of medications according to state and federal regulations and company procedures.
- Ensure medications destroyed are placed in the appropriate waste bin for destruction.
- Check returned drugs for expiration date.
- Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA, FWA, OSHA
- Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to ensure resident's rights are protected.
- Return any unused medications (per policy) to the appropriate pharmacy location.
- Keep the credits and returns area orderly and clean at all times.
- Other duties as directed.
- Current unencumbered license in the state of practice: Certified Pharmacy Technician (certification not required for Illinois Pharmacy Technicians licensed before 2008).
- High School diploma or graduate equivalent degree. College preferred.
- Warehouse and/or pharmacy experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, including ability to read, write and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
- Accurately perform basic math functions.
- Knowledge of medication brand/generic names and medical terminology.
- Sitting, standing, walking; at desk, in office throughout facility and pharmacy.
- Operation of office machinery and Pharmacy equipment.
- Be able to lift/move items up to 40 pounds.
- Computer skills, including familiarity with Windows and knowledge of or ability to master inventory control software and scanning.
