- Provides a full range of psychological assessment services and diagnoses mental disorders, particularly for complex or unusually difficult patients with psychiatric disorders.
- Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients, including prompt completion of clinical reminders.
- Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients.
- Provides consultation to professional staff within Phoenix VAMC or Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) and to community providers, concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans for patients.
- Functions independently as a member of the Phoenix VAMC Medical Staff, with clinical privileges. The psychologist assumes complete professional responsibility for his/her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and documentation.

This position serves the outpatient mental health clinic but may also include after-care and post-hospitalization clinical duties.
