    Description


    The Senior Proposal Engineer performs proposal and related project management functions as required by Commercial Operations and at the request of Business Development and/or Opportunity Owners.

    Mentor and help train Proposal Engineers.


    What You Will Do:
    Maintain proposal/project generation process with minimal supervision.


    Draft, edit and finalize proposals, with interaction of Business Development and Opportunity Owners, such as Market Sector Leads and/or Account Managers.


    Ensure that bid information is received in a timely manner to allow for development, review, and approval of the formal proposal.


    Develop and improve style and format of proposals to ensure winning bids and train other Proposal Engineers on the same.

    Ensure that proposals are prepared within appropriate deadlines, as required.

    Provide on-going communication with departmental individuals regarding proposal/project status.

    Coordinate proposal status with Business Development and Opportunity.

    Provide data analysis queries utilizing ABS' available software platforms and provide output report(s) as necessary.


    What You Will Need:
    Education and Experience

    B.S.

    degree in Marine, Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or other related disciplines; preference for graduates from a marine-industry recognized college or university.

    The following are new hire requirements for university graduates and experienced engineers from industry:


    Graduate from University with a bachelor's degree or recognized equivalent in appropriate technical discipline is preferred, should have at least five (5) years previous related marine and / or offshore energy industry experience.

    B.S. degree in Marine, Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or other related disciplines;

    Preference for graduates from a marine-industry recognized college or university

    Demonstrated computer literacy in engineering and financial analysis software.

    Good command of English language.

    As an alternative, an Experienced Engineer from Industry with the following credentials:

    Graduate from University as noted above.

    Professional or chartered engineer license or seagoing engineer license.


    Minimum Fifteen (15) years of a mix of related engineering and business development experience in a business development role, shipyard, design/consulting office, shipping/oil company, or a classification society.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Proficient in databases and Microsoft Office Suite.

    Good decision making and organization skills.

    Good oral and written communications skills.

    Excellent telephone/communication skills.

    Ability to work with minimal supervision.

    Ability to work with several proposals simultaneously.

    Exhibit teamwork.

    Concerning the accuracy of work performed.

    Flexible in achieving duties.

    Obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management Systems.


    Reporting Relationships:
    The incumbent reports to a Manager, Director or Executive level position. This position does not have any direct reports.
