POSITION SUMMARY (Assistant Principal):
The Assistant Principal is a dynamic educational leader responsible for ensuring that instructional practices are leading to improved scholar outcomes through rigorous data analysis.
College attainment, retention, and persistence cannot and will not improve without improved instructional outcomes, as instructional outcomes directly relate to the quality of college our scholars have access to and their preparation upon arrival.
The Assistant Principal ensures alignment between NLCP instruction and NLCP college outcomes.Secondarily, the Assistant Principal works to support campus leadership in their varied endeavors and responsibilities while building and maintaining a NLCP team that feels cared for, developed, and heard as they seek to provide the opportunity of a life-altering education for our scholars.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Assistant Principal):
Staff Engagement
Ensure that all Deans, department chairs, and teachers who you manage feel cared for, heard, and developed
Record / keep track of evidence of staff engagement across all team members
Monitor the experience of team members across departments in order to ensure that all staff have equitable expectations and experiences
Focus on equity of input by asking different people for input in different ways to ensure that team members feel heard and valued
Performance Management
Ensure direct reports have clarity of Roles & Responsibilities
Create and execute ILT meetings and O3s with direct reports
Create data practices and tracking mechanisms that ensure that direct reports get feedback on their practices and are meeting performance metrics
Create and execute Team Observations and walk-throughs to support your teams in their professional development and to hold your teams accountable to a culture of excellence
Instructional Visionary
Create and implement NLCP's philosophy on all things instruction (with input from stakeholders), including but not limited to: culturally responsive pedagogy, grading, rigor (SAT as the floor), homework philosophy, collaboration, The Noble Classroom, etc.
Create and implement the vision of the Instructional Leadership Team, and lead ILT meetingsLeadership Development
Provide leadership and core value development and support for the instructional staff
Develop all leaders' ability to conduct high quality root cause data analyses and execute with fidelity
Observe and provide feedback to instructional leaders on coaching conversations, team meetings, and weekly data meetings
Instructional Coaching
Meet regularly with instructors to provide coaching
Meet weekly with grade-level content teams managed to assess student mastery and plan targeted re-teaches related to standards-based instruction
Take on coaching for team members who have been escalated for performance and have struggled to make improvements with their original direct manager
Support ILT in reviewing long-term plans for teams they manage and unit and daily plans for teachers who need additional support
Professional Development
Lead and tap other instructional leaders to provide professional development related to instructional best practice for teachers across disciplines
Lead professional development related to instructional leadership best practices
Create and continuously refine the NLCP professional development calendar based on the needs / current priorities of NLCP
Data Management & Analysis
Monitor department-wide mastery trackers and respond to class-level data across all departments
Guide teachers through reflective cycles after network assessments to analyze results and respond
Monitor teacher GPA tracker (created & updated by DoS team), and guide instructional leaders through high quality GPA root cause analysis in order to improve GPA outcomes for scholars
Testing Coordination Supervision
Collaborate with site testing coordinator to provide logistical support for school-wide testing days
Facilitate the execution or manage the execution of AP Testing
Hiring
Collaborate with the Principal and DoS to determine hiring needs.
Support in the hiring of instructional staff members and College Team members as a hiring manager.
Support the deans you manage with the first touches and outreach.
QUALIFICATIONS (Assistant Principal):
Education:
Master's or Doctoral degree in Education or related field
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience
Previous experience in an administrative or leadership role within a school.
Demonstrated ability to provide visionary and strategic leadership
Strong organizational and decision-making skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to foster positive relationships with diverse stakeholders
Uphold high standards of ethical and professional conduct
