    Assistant Director of Advancement at Anacostia Community Museum

    Join an enthusiastic and innovative team during an exciting time for the Smithsonian Institution, an organization with a visionary goal of shaping a better future for all.

    Smithsonian Secretary Lonnie G. Bunch III and the institution's leadership are spearheading a campaign to support this vision.

    The Smithsonian Campaign for Our Shared Future aims to raise funds for all Smithsonian museums and centers as it adapts its mission to address collective challenges in a rapidly changing world.

    We are expanding the reach of the Smithsonian beyond the National Mall through dynamic programming and partnerships, ensuring access for everyone.

    The Anacostia Community Museum, part of the Smithsonian Institution, tells the stories of marginalized communities in the Washington, D.C. region, inspiring visitors to turn ideas into action.

    The museum's Center for Environmental Justice aims to integrate environmentalism into civic engagement, fostering the development of healthy, equitable communities.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Lead all fundraising efforts at the museum
    • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors
    • Solicit gifts from individuals and institutions
    • Manage a portfolio of prospects
    • Oversee Advisory Board activities
    • Supervise a gift officer
    Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:

    Minimum of five years of fundraising experience, preferably in a museum or non-profit setting

    Proven track record in securing substantial gifts

    Strong organizational, communication, and supervisory skills

    Dedication to the mission of the Anacostia Community Museum

    Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred

    Ability to travel and work flexible hours
