    The Product team is the team responsible for developing Cognite Data Fusion as a robust and scalable platform for solving industrial data problems at Cognite. The industrial data problem is at the heart of transforming asset-intensive industries to be safer, more sustainable and more profitable. Cognites Cognite Data Fusion makes the operational data available at scale and adds value to the data through data processing. This enables asset-intensive industries to make data-driven decisions.     As our Director of Engineering, you will have a unique opportunity to shape and lead our engineering team in Austin. With a well-established and thriving engineering team of over 150 engineers in EMEA, we are expanding our production in AMER and are seeking a talented individual to spearhead this growth. Joining our team as the Engineering Manager provides a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of our expansion efforts. You will have the chance to work closely with EMEA, leveraging their expertise and collaborating on exciting projects. Together, we will build a strong, cohesive engineering organization that drives innovation and delivers exceptional results.

    A typical day as a Cogniter will contain the following tasks & responsibilities

    • Manage a team of 10-15 engineers, developing services and applications for Cognite Data Fusion - a robust, state-of-the-art SaaS for industrial data.
    • Interact with a cross-functional team consisting of designers, product managers and program managers to ensure the team builds maintainable software that the customer loves on time.
    • Continuous work as a collaboration catalyst across products, ensuring the team provides excellent results with great quality.
    • Coaching your teams to ensure a delightful user experience with high-quality products that help the user solve complex real-world problems that have yet to be solved before.
    • Coaching all of your engineers with variable backgrounds, seniority and understanding of the domain they are solving to have good professional development.
    • Working with your team to understand the users' problems and domain, and you foresee and mitigate potential problems in plans.
    • Collaborate in a fast-paced environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts.
    • Be actively involved in setting product and technical direction.
    • You might do some coding yourself.
    • Dogfooding our products to try to put yourself in our users shoes.

    We believe most of these should match you and your experience

    • You have a background in a SaaS company
    • You are an experienced people manager today. The added experience of having worked as a tech lead, project manager or product manager is an advantage, but not a requirement.
    • You have a genuine and keen interest in building the competency of engineers in a company and can do so emphatically.
    • You have a collaborative mindset, and have a drive to always look at the greater good.
    • You have experience in building data-driven applications.
    • Have the motivation to work in a high-paced environment
    • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Have a good story about a time you created, small or large, digital impact
    • Are reliable and focused
    • Around 5+ yrs in the IT or asset-heavy industry
