    Position Summary:


    The YMCA of Snohomish County is the largest single provider of aquatic programs in Snohomish County with 8 pools and 6 aquatic centers.

    We are looking for an innovative, energetic, inspiring, and experienced aquatic professional to be the face of aquatic programs at our flagship branch- the Everett YMCA.

    The Everett YMCA Aquatics Director will oversee the total operations of the Everett YMCA Aquatics Center including facility scheduling, budget development/ management, marketing, promotion, programing, facility/equipment maintenance; staff, participant and member communication; volunteer and staff management, community relations and collaborations with community partners.

    The Aquatics Director develops, organizes and implements high quality, member-focused YMCA aquatic programs.

    Ensures a safe, positive and inclusive atmosphere that promotes participant safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies, practices and procedures.


    Job Duties/Responsibilities:
    This position has direct oversight and leadership of the Everett YMCA Aquatic Center Operations and Programs.

    Serve as a member of the Everett YMCA leadership team and the Association Aquatic Advancement Team to support the overall objectives of the YMCA.

    Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of our diverse community and fulfill YMCA objectives for the aquatics department.

    Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
    Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
    Promotes a diverse workforce; recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed.
    Reviews and evaluates staff performance.
    Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
    Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
    Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
    Ensure the safety and maintenance of high-quality facility, and equipment.
    Works with the YMCA facilities department to ensure proper maintenance of pools, maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels.
    Develops and conducts monthly staff in-service trainings for skill refinement and development.
    Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPRPRO trainings.
    Develops and maintains pool schedule to meet the needs of all programs and services.
    Able to perform and backup lifeguarding and swim instructor jobs as needed.
    Assists in the marketing and distribution of aquatic department information.
    Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
    May organize and/or represent the YMCA at community events.
    Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
    Models' relationship-building using Listen First skills in all interactions.
    Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
    Assists with task force/committee/parent meetings as assigned. Compiles program statistics

    Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program to ensure a high-quality experience for all members and participants.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications
    Qualifications: 2+ years direct supervisory experience
    Ability to direct total aquatics operations through supervision of staff, budget, marketing, public relations, and program development
    Proven customer service and conflict resolution skills.

    Current First Aid, CPRPRO, AED and O2 certifications required, or able to obtain within 30 days of employment; trainer instructor preferred.

    Current YMCA Lifeguard or RLSS, CRC, ARC Lifeguard required or able to obtain within 30 days of employment; trainer instructor preferred.

    Current Swim Instructor certification required or ability to obtain within 90 days.
    Completion of YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications within expected time periods.
    Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.
    Highly organized and detail oriented
    Has a growth mindset and willingness to learn and develop.
    Emotionally mature and able to manage self and others in high stress situations.
    Strong computer skills and experience with standard business software, able to utilize and communicate on multiple platforms.
    Strong professional written and verbal communication skills
    Experience working with individuals, families and communities of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
    Fluency in second language desired
