    Default job background
    Full time
    Description

    Summary

Digital Forensics Engineers analyze data from ongoing cyber-attacks, provide information on threat mitigations, and write code to help develop information recovery techniques.

    Duties

As a Digital Forensic Engineer (DFE) for CIA, you will focus on the Agency's toughest technology challenges and cyber threats.

DFEs are energetic and enthusiastic computer or engineering professional who enjoys tackling hard challenges, are obsessed with learning about the newest technologies as they emerge and love it when no two days of work are ever the same.

A day in the life of a DFE can range from: analyzing data from an ongoing sophisticated cyber-attack, to providing time critical information to policy makers on threat mitigations for the newest zero day, or researching and understanding new file formats, mobile devices, and storage devices.

This requires a fundamental understanding of technology at its lowest levels.

You will scientifically research, collect, process, analyze, and present findings in support of data recovery and assessing and identifying malicious behaviors within digital datasets.

DFEs also write scripts/code to help develop new information recovery techniques and threat identification methods.

While you will be expected to perform analysis in such a way as to maintain the integrity and objectivity of the forensic process, exhibiting innovation and creativity in problem solving strategies is highly encouraged.
