- Maintains patient files, files studies, files all patient data upon receipt of information, maintains filing statistics, and audits filing sequence.
- Pulls charts for scheduled for laboratories, appointments with technician and physician. Also pulls charts for walk-in patients.
- Preps charts for scheduled patients 2 days prior to appointment ensures all labs, specialist reports, etc are received and attached to chart for physician to review.
- Responds to requests for medical records, processes letters and reports, answers and directs telephone calls.
- Retrieves patient schedules from computer system and distributes lab reports to physicians.
- Photocopy records and documents for billing and/or legal services, sends and receives information via fax machine. Send invoice for requests from attorneys offices.
- Keep medical records area clean and organized.
- Also assists in Front Desk tasks and scheduling appointments when necessary.
- High school graduate
- Medical office experience of at least 3 months
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
- Computer skills
- Organizational, interpersonal, telephone ettiquette skills
- Ability to maintain records and files with confidentiality
- Ability to exert physical effort maintaining and distributing files
