    About Harris County Children Assessment Center:


    The Children's Assessment Center (The CAC) provides a safe haven to sexually abused children and their families - a place where they can receive the kind of care and treatment they so richly deserve.


    We employ an extraordinarily effective multidisciplinary team approach in the prevention, assessment, investigation, referral for prosecution, and treatment of child sexual abuse.

    Our goal is to promote the complete healing of child victims of sexual abuse and their families.


    Postdoctoral FellowOverview:
    Postdoctoral Fellows are responsible for providing therapy and psychological services at The Children's Assessment Center. Must adhere to APA Ethical Guidelines in performing all job duties.

    THIS IS A ONE YEAR TERM BEGINNING AUGUST UNTIL THE END OF JULY.

    Duties & Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


    • Conducts psychological evaluation and testing of children and adults
    • Conducts psychotherapy with children and adults
    • Supports the training internship program. Provides clinical supervision of Doctoral Interns, participates in all activities related to the training program
    • Provides crisis intervention for children and adults.
    • Consults with The CAC partner agency personnel.
    • Provides community and professional presentations.
    • Participates in multi-disciplinary case staffing.

    Requirements


    Education:

    • Ph.
    D or Psy.
    D degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology or School

    • Psychology must be completed by 8/01/2024

    Experience:

    • One (1) year of experience working with children in a clinical setting

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

    • Ability to provide therapeutic services to victims of child sexual abuse and their families.
    • Knowledge of clinical psychopathology and related clinical intervention; knowledge of attachment and child development; knowledge of crisis intervention techniques; ability to communicate well orally and in writing; and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team setting.
    • Maintains documentation and meets expectations related to deadlines associated with documentation.
    • Ability to foster a hospitable work environment.
    • Strong writing and communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
    • Ability to take initiative and work independently, and also to work collaboratively.
    • Experience maintaining professional boundaries.

    Preferences


    Experience/Knowledge:

    • Experience with victims of child sexual abuse preferred.
    • Knowledge and/or training in an evidence-based or trauma informed treatment modality preferred.

    • Monday - Friday
    • This position has a one year term - August 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025
