    Overview


    The Design Intern will be responsible for supporting the Women's Light Weight Knit Tops design team in all aspects of the design development process.

    Our designers are responsible for researching and identifying trends that relate to the Aéropostale customer.

    They handle the overall development and direction of the line including basic merchandising concepts from a design point of view.

    Designers are responsible for establishing seasonal color palette, concepts, patterns, fabric and styling.

    Responsibilities

    Participate in cross-functional meetings and gain an understanding of the role of Design in the product lifecycle.
    Supports the design team during the product development process

    Identify the steps that Design goes through in order to design a line including trend research, concept development, sketching, detailing, and translating into samples.

    Learn more about the day to day tasks accomplished by an Assistant Designer including sketching, creating tech packs and line sheets, communicating with the cross functional team, and preparing for seasonal presentations.

    Provide research, maintenance, and support for assigned departmental projects and tasks as assigned.
    Participate and provide feedback in group meetings and discussions if applicable.
    Assist with the preparations of meetings & presentations
    Provide administrative assistance, such as filing, record keeping, etc.
    Perform such other duties as directed by the supervisor.

    Qualifications

    Enrolled in working towards a BFA/BS in fashion design or other related major.
    Detail orientated individual.
    Strong communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills.
    Team player with a positive attitude who can thrive & take initiative in a fast paced work environment & have strong time management skills
    Computer proficient with an emphasis on Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop.
    Strong digital & hand sketching skills.
    Passion for fashion & desire to learn more
    Must be available June 3rd, 2024- August 23rd, 2024 for 40 hours/week.
    Adhere to regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration. Job duties may be performed effectively using the hybrid work program designated by the company.
    Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor as the company retains the right to change duties to this position.
    Must have authorization to work in the United States.

    Physical Requirements:


    Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

    Ability to maintain regular and timely attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards and Company's policy.

    Ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 8 hours per day
    Ability to constantly operate a computer, other office equipment and look at a monitor for up to 8 hours per day
    Ability to clearly and accurately communicate and exchange information verbally, in writing, or through other means in person, telephonically, or through virtual communication methods
    Ability to position self to reach at or below shoulder level
    Ability to carry equipment, moving boxes/samples, etc.
