    Job Summary:

    Under general direction of the Accounting Manager, to perform a wide variety of technical accounting work associated with constructed fixed assets and the financing of those activities. The Accounting Analyst supports the activities of general ledger accounting, accounts payable, fixed asset accounting, accounts receivable, and payroll.

    Hiring Range: $65,135 to $73,900


    Essential Job Functions:

    • Prepare journal entries
    • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
    • Assist Accounting Manager with recording and reconciliation of fixed asset additions/disposals
    • Record contractual obligations and prepare construction-related payments
    • Prepare project status reports to ensure compliance with State/Federal financial award requirements
    • Record construction contracts, change orders, task orders, and supplemental agreements in accounting system
    • Analyze construction expenses and identify reimbursable amounts using State/Federal grants, Passenger Facility Charges (PFCs), and similar funding sources
    • Support Finance Department in preparation of audit workpapers related to constructed fixed assets
    • Review grants and other awards to help identify key contracting, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements
    • Assist in tenant coordination regarding construction projects' impact to leased space and reconciliation of payments
    • Research accounting information to assist Accounting Manager and/or Director of Engineering in application, amendment, and/or closeout of PFC authorization, State grant, and/or Federal grant opportunities
    • Prepare ad-hoc project reports for use by key personnel in Engineering and Finance
    • Support other critical accounting functions as needed
    • Communicate effectively with contractors, vendors, customers, and Airport staff
    • Keep Accounting Manager informed on work progress, including present and potential work problems
    • Observe departmental and office rules, policies, and regulations
    • Remain current on principles, practices, and new developments associated with assigned work areas
    • Coordinate with others to maximize the efficiency of financial operations and activities
    • Perform other duties consistent with the role and function of the classification

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Proven track record of organization skills and attention to detail
    • Substantial knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
    • Substantial knowledge of financial procedures and practices
    • Substantial knowledge of financial application software
    • Substantial knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and general ledger
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making ability in all situations
    • Ability to interpret accounting records and analyze accounting data
    • Effective oral and written communication skills using both technical and non-technical language
    • Ability to perform tasks with accuracy and speed under time-sensitive deadlines
    • Ability to understand and conform to oral and written policies, procedures, and instructions
    • Ability to prepare reliable financial reports containing findings and recommendations
    • Ability to operate a personal computer using software applications consistent with assigned role
    • Proficiency in 10-key and general keyboarding
    • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
    • Integrity, ingenuity, and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field with:
      • At least two years of experience in financial transaction operations
      • Experience specific to constructed asset accounting
      • Experience related to State and Federal financial awards
      • An understanding of governmental accounting and operation principles
      • Experience with Sage100 (MAS90)

    OR

    • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

    License or Other Requirements

    • Successful post-employment physical and drug test
    • Successful background investigation to obtain unescorted airport identification/access privileges
