    Job Title:

    Resident Advocate for Karibu Program

    Summary:

    The Resident Advocate will oversee and manage client flow in the Karibu program, providing support and resources to clients exiting or diverting from incarceration. This position requires a high level of cultural competence, empathy, and communication skills to work effectively with diverse populations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide support and basic resource information to clients
    • Monitor building/client common areas
    • Conduct periodic inspections of common areas to monitor building/clients
    • Generate reports and routine computer input
    • Log events/incidents using factual-observation based documentation
    • Obtain urinalysis from clients as directed by STP/ARC/DCP case management staff or team lead
    • Update STP area with appropriate resource information as directed by Supervisor
    • Adhere to all state and federal privacy and security regulations applicable to the program

    Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, or related field preferred
    • Basic knowledge of chemical dependency, mental health issues, and treatment methods
    • Ability to consider impacts and outcomes for underserved communities during decision-making process
    • Ability to consider impacts of oppression, structural racism, and individual bias on client outcomes
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the course of work
