    Description

    Introduction

    Delaware's Division of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) is accountable for managing and conserving the quality and diversity of Delaware's wildlife and its publicly owned habitat. The DFW migratory gamebird and turkey programs oversee various bird species in the state. This involves monitoring harvest, collecting biological data, engaging in collaborative efforts, such as annual banding, and interacting with neighboring states in science-based forums.

    Job Summary

    This seasonal research assistant role with Delaware's Species Conservation and Research Program will support the State Gamebird biologist in projects related to migratory gamebirds and turkeys. The responsibilities include conducting surveys, trapping, banding, data entry, and providing assistance in other related projects occasionally.

    Essential Functions

    • Providing technical support in studies, surveys, and research projects.
    • Collecting field samples and data.
    • Offering technical information to the public and regulated community.
    • Interpreting rules and regulations for the assigned area.
    • Reviewing permit applications and related paperwork.
    • Operating and maintaining vehicles, boats, and equipment.
    • Keeping accurate records and preparing reports.
    • Assisting in processing biological samples.

    Job Requirements

    JOB REQUIREMENTS for Environmental Control Technician II

    Applicants must demonstrate competence in the following areas:

    • Six months of experience in field work and data collection.
    • Skills in basic mathematics.
    • Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations.
    • Experience in narrative report writing.
    • Ability to work with automated information systems.
    • Valid Driver's License.
