    League School for Autism is an award-winning, year-round program dedicated to the education of children on the autism spectrum. Our team approach to education creates a collaborative, supportive and open environment within our community. We are currently seeking a Speech Language Pathologist for our program in Walpole.

    Position Requirements:

    • Master's Degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited program.
    • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligibility for Clinical Fellowship Year.
    • Massachusetts Educator's license and license from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology required.
    • Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum and knowledge of alternative and augmentative communication systems preferred.
    • CPR, First Aid, Safety Care certifications (League School will provide training).
    • Valid Driver's License
    • Must pass rigorous background checks, including nationwide fingerprint screening.

    Supervision Received: Assistant Director of Education

    Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following:

    1. Performs in a professional manner at all times in all aspects of work, including developing a therapeutic and effective relationship with students: using appropriate tone of voice, setting reasonable boundaries with communication and actions, etc.
    2. Participates in the intake screening of potential new students to League School. If the student is accepted, reviews evaluation materials to develop goals and objectives for upcoming Individual Education Program meetings. This may include observations, review of records, information lessons and/or beginning of his/her own assessment if an outside evaluation within the last year is not available.
    3. Develops goals and objectives for the IEP in consultation with the educational team for each student on the caseload.
    4. Collects and records data and/or provides data sheets to teachers regarding student performance on speech and language goals. Monitors student progress and collaborates with classroom head teacher on goals to facilitate quarterly report writing for IEPs.
    5. Consults with the head teacher and classroom team around programming including developing curricula and/or group lessons as they relate to speech and language needs, as they impact the student and the classroom.
    6. Develops curriculum content and materials, as needed for the implementation of communication programs/social programs, classroom lessons, etc.
    7. Has curriculum materials prepared and ready for review that are appropriate for students and/or classroom on the caseload.
    8. Participates in meetings with parents/guardians, meetings with public school systems personnel, and annual reviews as needed.
    9. Attends classroom meetings, program meetings, staff meetings, and department meetings. Comes prepared with agenda and/or ready to discuss issues and solutions.
    10. Participates in residential meetings. Provides consultation and/or trainings regarding communication-based IEP goals and strategies to the residential staff as needed.
    11. Conducts formal assessments of students' speech and language skills and generates data-based written reports upon written consent from parent/guardian and school district.
    12. Completes written reports, as needed, in a timely manner: Individual Education Programs, Re-evaluation Reports, Incident Reports, Accident Reports and Restraint Reports.
    13. Provides input into the development of behavior intervention strategies, academic goals, and daily living techniques for individual students based on the student's language capabilities.
    14. Supports the implementation of student behavior programs: positive reinforcements, breaks, time outs, etc., as designated by the Behavior Department and the team.
    15. All SLP Staff will be the in-house trainers for SCERTS and responsible for training all new employees in conjunction with the Education Coordinators.
    16. Performs other related duties, as assigned by the Assistant Director of Education or Director of Education, which are deemed necessary for the operation of the school.

    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
