    ECS is seeking a Journeyman Database Administrator to work in our Charleston, SC / Remote office. Please Note: This position is contingent upon [contract award].

    Job Description:

    Journeyman Database Administrator will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our mission-critical database systems, ensuring their availability, performance, and security. Specialist will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide guidance to various IT departments, junior DBAs, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our data management practices. Specialist will possess key knowledge of Atlassian products including, but not limited to JIRA Service Manager, Confluence, Zephyr, and all related products.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and optimize complex existing SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects to improve performance and reliability.
    • Experience in Automating database provisioning, backups, monitoring, and maintenance tasks using tools and scripts.
    • Proactively monitor database health, identify, and resolve performance bottlenecks, and implement preventive measures.
    • Experience in collaborating with application developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure database solutions align with business requirements.
    • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and problem-solving processes to ensure minimal downtime and data loss.
    • Contribute to the development and enhancement of database management policies, standards, and procedures. Providing technical expertise to create detailed database designs and documenting the results, including data models and flow diagrams.
    • Evaluating, configuring, and optimizing databases to meet user requirements. Determining data organization, indexing methods, and security designs for databases.
    • Planning and coordinating the conversion or migration of existing (or legacy) databases to state-of-the-art RDBMS.
    • Managing development and operational databases, as well as performing maintenance actions and patches to sustain their health.
    Salary Range: $111,000-$116,000

    Required Skills:
    • Clearance: Public Trust
    • At least 5 years with PostgreSQL or SQL Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS)
    • Experience implementing, managing, and configuring large database systems in technologies such as Apache Hadoop and Hive, PostgreSQL, and Oracle.
    • Experience with Java, JavaScript, Groovy script, JQuery, HTML/XHTML/CSS, REST APIs
    • Experience with other similar tools like ServiceNow and Tableau
    • Experience in database backup, disaster recovery planning, performance optimization and data security.
    • Applied knowledge of advanced troubleshooting and repair of database defects and the design, development, and implementation of database modifications in response to system change requests.
    • Experience in Atlassian collaboration tools such as Jira, confluence etc.
    Desired Skills:
    • Experience working with Agile methodologies.
    • Expertise in designing, implementing, and optimizing database architectures, including relational databases.
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple training initiatives simultaneously and meet deadlines.
    • Experience producing technical documentation to communicate standard operating procedures and detailed analysis.
    • Experience working with cross functional teams and demonstrating strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities with federal clients.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to provide quick solutions to issues.
    CERTIFICATIONS
    • Certified CompTIA, Microsoft, or related industry certification preferred.
