    Description

    The Robert A. Silver Endowed Chair in Developmental Neurobiology supports the research mission of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences. The Endowed Chair is expected to have an established and internationally recognized, competitively funded, research program and participate in graduate/medical student education and mentoring. As an Endowed Chair, this position offers a highly competitive salary and start up package, including recurring annual funding to support scholarship activities.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Maintain a competitively funded research program.

    Develop and maintain collaborations with faculty within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences, the Neuroscience Institute, and the University of South Florida, as well as those in their professional domain.

    Contribute to student / trainee mentoring in the Department of Psychiatry – from graduate student and post-doctoral trainees to medical students, residents, and fellows – opportunities abound.

    Engage in service functions of the department and university, as well as at the national levels, including professional organization committees, editorial boards, and study sections.

    Performs other duties as needed and assigned by Department Chair.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

    MINIMUM:

    PhD or MD in a developmental neurobiology basic science or related field. Candidate must be able to meet University criteria for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Candidate is expected to have already established an internationally recognized, competitively funded, research program. Evidence of successful graduate/medical student education and student / trainee mentoring.

    PREFERRED:

    Leadership experience in a developmental neurobiology-related discipline, especially from within a psychiatry department.
