    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Accounting or Finance or related field is required. Two years of auditing experience are required. Additional years of experience in auditing may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

    The Convention/Tourist Tax Examiner position performs examinations of Transient Rental and Food & Beverage facility financial records to ensure state statutes and rules, and local ordinances are obeyed and issues tax assessments to recover unremitted Convention & Tourist taxes.

    This position will grow to include operational examinations of any Tax Collector Division to ensure that the most efficient and effective policies and procedures are followed and will provide remedies to improve business processes.

    This position involves planning and time management to ensure audits comply with statutory requirements.

    It also requires audit process knowledge; report writing experience; strong research and analytical skills; as well as the ability to effectively communicate with personnel of all levels of responsibility within the auditee's establishment and the Tax Collector's Office.
