    About the Job

    • Successful non-profit looking to expand its Policy Services team within the Operations department

    Under direct supervision using prescribed procedures, create and maintain workers' compensation risk files, process incoming member workers' compensation policy data and assigned risk policy applications, and respond to inquiries from insureds, agents, and carriers. Requires an aptitude for learning workers' compensation insurance principles and the ability to understand policy and application data validations.

    Role and Responsibilities

    • Process workers' compensation insurance applications submitted through company's proprietary web application
      • Create and maintain business application (risk) files following established guidelines
      • Verify insurance policy application input for integrity and accuracy
      • Ensure business applicant satisfies insurance policy eligibility requirements
    • Process standardized reports
    • Respond to inquiries from employers, insurers, and agents

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

    • Minimum: Associate degree or equivalent experience in business or technical field
    • Preferred: Associate or Bachelor degree in communication, risk management, insurance, business, or current role as Agency Customer Service Rep (CSR), Underwriter, Rater or similar insurance industry role
    • Competent in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
    • Collaborative, positive, energetic team player
    • Strong, effective, written and verbal communication skills
    • Basic analytical skills
    • Good judgement and business acumen
    • Strong customer service mindset
    • Motivated, self-directed work ethic, willing to aggressively pursue individual and team goals
    Company DescriptionCAOM is a private, non-profit association of insurance companies that write workers' compensation insurance in Michigan. CAOM collects, processes and analyzes worker's compensation policy and claim data for member companies and state regulators. CAOM's sister organization, the Michigan Workers' Compensation Placement Facility, processes worker's compensation coverage applications for businesses that are unable to get coverage by ordinary means due to high claim activity, high risk operations, or other reasons. Established by state statute in 1983 and funded by its member insurance carriers, CAOM is the sole organization responsible for these duties in Michigan, resulting in a uniquely stable work environment regardless of economic fluctuation. CAOM's small number of employees (less than 35) provide a family-like atmosphere and are consistently recognized for outstanding customer service.
