- Inspects roads and bridges for maintenance issues and advises Superintendent and schedules repairs with Foreman;
- Inspect bridges signs;
- Performs roads and bridge maintenance and advises Superintendent and schedules repairs with Foreman;
- Must have basic carpentry, masonry experience and knowledge of Penn dot publications regarding work zone traffic control;
- The laborer is required to operate county vehicles including pickup trucks to backhoes. A valid Pennsylvania Commercial Drivers License is required;
- Sign making: The laborer determines which type of sign is needed or desired and determines from the sign manual which materials are needed and gathers them together;
- The laborer is in contact with the Crew Chief and Administrator;
- The laborer maintains clear and detailed communication with subordinate;
- Essential personnel/ On-Call/ Emergency Callouts;
- Snow/ Ice Removal (operating plows).
- High School Diploma equivalent;
- Valid CDL class A, B or C Pennsylvania driver's license;
- Knowledge of all county owned roads and bridges;
- Knowledge of construction and maintenance procedures;
- 10 years construction/structural road and bridges experience;
- Ability to read architectural/ design plans.
- Ability to walk on uneven terrain;
- Shoveling raking, lifting of rocks, dirt, asphalt and stone in excess of 50 lbs. for 50% of the day;
- Flagging (standing) 20% of the day. May exceed 20% depending on project;
- Ability to work in all types of climate and temperatures;
- Ability to shovel and withstand heavy lifting;
- Ability to use backhoe, air compressors, and jack hammer;
- Ability to climb, bend, squat, stoop & kneel for various amounts of time during an 8-hour day;
- Ability to handle all safety equipment.

Description
This is a multi-dimensional labor position that involves performing a variety of maintenance tasks on County roads and bridges. The work involves heavy physical exertion and completing maintenance tasks in a timely fashion. The position works under the direction of the foreperson and or Labor II, but can receive direction form the Crew Chief, Administrator.
