Description
Hours Available: 1 pm - 9 pm Monday - Friday & 8 am - 3 pm Saturday and Sunday
The Behavioral Support Professional is responsible for assisting in daily living tasks, personal care, and support, and ensuring the personal safety and welfare of individuals with intellectual disability, mental illness, and/or challenging behavior in a residential setting.
- Demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and implementation of the person's individual program plan (IPP), individual service plan (ISP), and behavior intervention plan (BIP).
- Abide by HCBS guidelines and indicated in the HCBS manual.
- Uses good decision-making skills and accesses appropriate resources to develop quality services.
- Support the needs and goals of each client by taking them to medical appointments, to visit family and friends, to preferred leisure/recreational activities, and encouraging them to socialize with their peers.
- Maintain open communication with Supported Community Living Manager to inform team members on client progress with goals, medical and/or social needs.
- Collaborate and communicate with family members, caretakers, neighbors, case workers, and other involved individuals.
- Maintain records of medical and dental visits, current medications, illnesses, injuries, and special needs.
- Order prescriptions and non-prescription medications for clients, if needed.
- Check in medications from pharmacy and administer medication, First Aid, and/or CPR if necessary.
- Transport clients to and from medical appointments and outings around the community as needed.
- Maintain client funds by ensuring receipts are recorded, and filed, in a timely fashion.
Requirements
- Requires a valid driver's license and current auto insurance.
- Must successfully pass all pre-employment background checks.
- Ability to meet physical and mental requirements necessary to perform all functions of position.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Communication and relational skills to interact in a professional manner with staff and clients.
- Strong problem-solving skills and time-management skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Preferred work experience with challenging and/or aggressive behaviors of individuals with intellectual disability.
