- Performs routine screening of GYN and non-GYN specimens, reports results and documents daily workload records.
- Processes specimens for analysis according to specifications related to the type of specimen.
- Assists with the collection and processing of fine needle aspiration specimens. Performs quality control assessment, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Serves as a consultant to laboratory staff and other clinical staff as needed.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
- Bachelor's degree in related field and graduate of an accredited Cytotechnologist program.
- Certification as a Cytotechnologist (CT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). State licensure if required by law.
